Gandhiji has asserted that "Swaraj means constant effort to get rid of control of government." But government has assumed most dangerous powers and exercises strict controls on the people. If we understand this properly, we can understand that this is not Swaraj, but this is worst kind of slavery.
(1) Government can snatch away agricultural land from farmers at any moment. Government can evacuate entire villages by snatching away homes and farms of villagers and it can drive away them. Such 50 million people have been driven out so far from their farms and villages and rendered them homeless. Farmers believe that they are the owners of their agricultural land. But government does not accept them as owners. Government says that it owns all the land and farmers are only occupants and the government have right to drive them away and give the land to others. So if government can snatch away at any moment the land of the farmers which they tcultivate since centuries, how can we call this situation as Swaraj? Clearly, this is slavery. As long as government has this dangerous power, Swaraj cannot come even in dreams.
(2) If some unknown person forcefully enters in your home and takes away Rs.100000/- from your cupboard and every year he does the same thing and you cannot speak anything against him, then what type of terror you will feel in your mind? How much helplessness and slavery you will feel? Now government has so much dangerous power that without entering anybody's home, it can extract Rs.100000/- every year from every home by way of compulsory indirect taxes imposed on almost every item of use which make every item costly because of taxes. This way, Government of India snatches away Rs.12 million times million i.e. Rs.12000/- billions. Similarly, Government of Gujarat extracts Rs.100000/- crores in the same way. So long as we cannot abolish this dangerous powers of government, poverty and hunger will go on increasing and people cannot even dream the Swaraj.
(3) If any unknown person to you mortgages your land and your home and gets the loan of big amount from which he will purchase car and bungalow and also a revolver to frighten you and you have to pay entire loan with interest compulsorily and if you do not pay his loan, he will snatch away your land, home and property. If you have to live in this situation, how will you feel? You will feel worst slavery, correct? But government is acting in the same way. Government of Gujarat has taken huge loans (roughly about Rs.160000 crores) which comes to Rs.125000/- per family of Gujarat State. This entire debt of Rs.125000/- + interest has to be paid by you by way of future heavy compulsory taxation to be imposed by future leaders. The present leaders who take the loan have no responsibility to repay it ! Loans are obtained at the cost and risk of the people, but billionaires reap the benefits of this loans in the name of industrial development. Newspapers have published the reports that Tata Nano Car Project got the benefit of Rs.30000/- crores from Government. So, so long as government has dangerous power of obtaining loans and debts of billions of rupees in the name of people, but without asking the people, poverty and slavery will go on increasing and Swaraj will go further far and far away.
(4) If Head of the village allies with robbers and gives the information to the robbers who are the prosperous farmers in the village, from whom how much wealth can be robbed and if he makes all arrangements that nobody in the village will resist the robbing activity and if he provides all the facilities of lunch and dinner at his home to robbers, what will be the situation of a village? It will be doomed, correct? But this example exactly applies to the entire country. Administrators of this country have studied in England and USA and they are allying with robbing multinational companies and they provide all the facilities as above to them. They make laws in their favour, they snatch away land of farmers and assign them these giant robbers and the government works as a watchman to protect the robbers in their robbing activity. So long as the government has such dangerous powers, people cannot feel Swaraj even in dreams. Fate of this country is to drown in the ocean of slavery.
(5) One farmer has grown wheat. Another has grown rice. Now for food, if they want to exchange, one kg rice can be exchanged with one kg of wheat. But if wheat is produced one tonne per acre and rice is produced two tonne per acre, 2 kg of rice can be exchanged with 1 kg of wheat. But if outsider robber comes and tells that every farmer has to exchange 1 tonne of wheat against 1 plastic chair compulsorily, another robber tells that 1 tonne of rice has to be exchanged for lady's wrist watch compulsorily and third robber insists that 2 tonnes of vegetables has to be exchanged for lady's beauty box compulsorily, then what will be situation of a village? Exactly the same situation is in our foreign trade. In determining dollar-rupee exchange rate, all the arrangement is done for billionaires, robber multinational companies and exporters to suck the blood of the entire country. We cannot say that our leaders are doing this deliberately. But they have studied in western universities and their economic thinking has become dangerously uneconomic. So their all the decisions are beneficial to the foreign and Indian robbing companies and totally detrimental to the people. This power of government for fixing the exchange rate is so much dangerous that it is possible to destruct and finish any country totally within 2 to 4 years only. Because of such dangerous power of governments, many African countries have been totally ruined abruptly and people have become just like skeletons. This is the most dangerous power of the government out of all dangerous powers of the government. This power can sell entire country and can increase poverty and unemployment unimaginably. Present unjust exchange rate of 68Rs. = 1 Dollar can be hardly justifiable up to 4 Rs. = 1 Dollar. So, in every import activity, we have to pay 17 times higher rates and for every export activity, we get only 6% income. So naturally, price rise is 17 times for every commodity. So, so long as government has this dangerous power, our entire wealth will be drained to foreign countries and billionaires like Ambani will spring up and people will become poorer and poorer.
(6) Government has dangerous powers to arrest anybody and send him to jail without giving him any reason. In the name of security or in the name of arresting the terrorists, government has assumed such dangerous power. It is estimated that 60% people in the jail have not committed any offense and they are innocent, but unnecessarily suffering in the jail. In this situation, government's powers to detain any person and put him in jail without giving any reason is heavily risky for the people. Any person who opposes government or the police may do it at his life's risk.
So, my brothers and sisters, there is no Swaraj in this country. We are being crushed under severest dangerous bureaucracy. But it is most pitiful that crores of people consider this system as democracy and in every election they cast their votes and directly endorse this system. You vote in the election for the purpose of electing or defeating particular candidate. This is your credulousness. In fact, your vote endorses and approves the entire system of slavery. So long as each and every person does not understand that voting endorses the slavery, Swaraj will go far and far away.
